i wasn’t the girl who ended up with the prince, i was the girl who burned it all down or died trying. I had to be.

  • What a ride. All am thinking is why did I not read this sooner. Fans of the Hunger Games? This one is for you. Don't even question it, just pick it up and give it a go. It's unputdownable.

  • This is the book that broke my two-year reading hiatus. BJC knocked it out of the park with her published debut. I could not put this book down, and when I had to, it was all I could think about. The action was beautifully written, the twists in the plot kept me entranced the entire time. And more than anything, this book makes me want to *write*, to bring characters and stories to life, to create magic and love and hope. If you love fantasy / magic / strong female leads, you have to read this one.

  • Wow... Where do I start with this book.. First thing first if you are a Hunger Games and Selection fan you will like this! Think of this book as a dark Selection.I COULD NOT put this book down. I finished this book about a week ago and I can't stop thinking about it. I need the next book soon, but if you are a dark fantasy fan and love twists and turns you will enjoy this book. I was weary about it, but the characters are so well developed. 5/5!

  • I just wanted to see what was going to happen next. I'm still in shock over the ending and I have endless questions and theories floating around now. Seriously, I can't wait for the sequel to come out because I need it in my hands right now. I'm so happy that I got the chance to jump into this. Very excited for Brianna to write the next one!

i’m a damsel that has to fight a dragon all alone in the middle of an arena. and, if i win…

if i win there’s a possibility that i might become a dragon myself.

There are people who believe that there are ten levels of hell: ten levels to mimic the ten goddess-touched girls. But as I stepped forward into the ash and wind and blistering heat of my own making, I knew that there was only one level of hell—and in that moment, I was queen of it.

ABOUT BOOK TWO:

Once there were ten.

Ten goddess-touched girls were born. Each was blessed―or cursed―with a unique power that set them apart. As part of an ancient ritual called the Culling, they were supposed to fight to the death in the arena until only one survived. That girl would marry the prince and ascend to the throne. Now only four girls remain.

Power in her blood.

Monroe Benson is one of the lucky ones. With fire at her fingertips, she survived the arena and the intrigues of the palace. Now she’s turned her back on her destiny, choosing to throw in her lot with the rebellion seeking to overturn the Erydian rulers. Monroe has never wanted the throne. She knows that her future lies elsewhere, but first she’ll have to convince the rebels to believe her.

A traitorous heart.

Monroe thought Cohen was one of the few good things about the Culling. She believed that he would have made a good ruler, but that doesn’t mean that she wanted to sit beside him on the throne. And now, she finds herself drawn to a rebel leader. A man with secrets of his own. In the end, Monroe will have to trust in more than her power or even her heart if she’s to forge her own path and find her freedom.
